My story:

For many years I was one of those people that went to work every morning in peak hour traffic and often only returned home in the evening after dark.

I remember sitting in my car looking at all the other people going to work, wondering how many of them were actually looking forward to the day ahead. Looking at their expressions very few people actually looked happy and excited being stuck in traffic on their way to work.

I often thought about how great it would be to work from home but didn't do anything about it.

I have had an idea for a couple of years to start my own website and work from home. However, it seemed very daunting to me at the time. I had no idea if I could do it and didn't know where to start.

I tried a couple of work from home programs (part-time) but got totally discouraged with all the scams on the internet. I simply could not find an honest program. Until I discovered Sitesell...

We are all familiar with the term rat race although many people hate to think of themselves as being stuck in a rat race. What does it mean to you? For many people it means going to work every day doing a job they would rather not be doing and feeling unable to make any changes to their circumstances.

I would like to throw the proverbial stone in the bush and say that most people already got stuck in the rat race long before they actually started working. Consider for a moment your life from childhood to the present.

Ever noticed how small children have seemingly endless energy? They seem to be able to play from morning to evening, running instead of walking whenever possible. I get tired sometimes just looking at my nine year old daughter running around in the garden playing games with our dog or other children. Most children of her age are exactly the same - happy with lots of energy.

It seems that as we get older we lose our playfulness. We become serious adults. We complain about all our responsibilities. We stop dreaming and accept our circumstances as part of adult life. We are often not happy but tell ourselves that we cannot live in a dream world and must accept reality. Being able to work from home becomes a dream...

Are we really that different from our children? On the outside, yes. Inward, no. My mother passed away in 2006 at age 75 but I shall always remember her telling me that although her body got older through the years that she still felt the same person on the inside she was in her youth. 

We are forced to join the rat race from an early age...We have to conform to the norms of our parents and society. We have to get good grades in school in order to attend a good college or university so that we can get a good job that will pay us enough to raise a family of our own. Somewhere in all of this the "I" gets lost and replaced by "we".

We are encouraged not to question the society we live in. If we do, we can be labeled as a rebel or even end up being discarded from society because we do not fit in.

We allow other people to make our decisions, directly or indirectly, and end up living the way society expects us to live, not the way we would necessarily want to live.

Without realizing it we lose our freedom and then wonder years later why we are not happy and where we took a wrong turn.
